-The working conditions desrcribed in the 'Triangle Fire' movie
- In an Excerpt from Sister Carrie by Theodore Dresise, Carrie talks about how much she hates working in the factory. She states 'It seemed as if she had worked an entire day' even though it is barely noon. She talks about how her hands ache and how she is fixed to preforming a single mechanical movement, which becomes more and more [boring] as the day goes on. She states that not a single provision had been made for the comfort of the employees. 'The washrooms were disagreeable, crude if not foul places'
Social Class Divisons
-An Expert from Henrey George's Progress and Poverty, 1879 states that there is a 'wedge' being forced through society. The people above the wedge are elevated but the ones below are crushed down. This 'wedge' is a symbol of the division of the upper and lower class happening during the industrial revolution.
-In an Excerpt from Russell Conwell's Acres of Diamonds, Conwell talks about how he believes it is everyone's duty to be rich and if you are poor its your own fault. This represents the unfair ideas about wealth and poverty that were created because of the class divisions and social classes.
